Sustainability

ESG Governance, a Culture of Sustainability, and Responsible Investment form the three foundational pillars of sustainability at Hang Seng Investment. These pillars are supported by a systematic governance structure, which upholds the principles that guide our responsible investment activities. We are dedicated to fostering a sustainable culture that integrates ESG into different aspects of our business and enhance the ESG knowledge of our people through sponsorships for ESG qualifications, organizing workshops, and hosting seminars on key sustainability issues.

Sustainability Governance Structure

Our sustainability governance structure comprises strategic planning, policy development and responsible investment principles. Our Executive Committee has delegated the responsibility to the ESG Steering Committee, which is chaired by our CEO and includes representatives from various functions within Hang Seng Investment, including the Head of Sustainability.

Our investment analysts and responsible investment team work closely to integrate sustainability as a part of our fundamental analysis to evaluate and measure and a company's potential risks and returns over the long-term.

Environmental Stewardship

We care about the environmental and climate change impact on the financial performance of the investee companies and pay attention to these companies from an environmental perspective, such as carbon emission, pollution, waste generation and management.

Social Responsibility

We believe social factors could be important to investee companies. For example, the safety issues of human capital and products will form part of the consideration of our investment analysis.

Our analysis also covers the governance issues of an investee company, such as board composition, capital management and proxy voting arrangement.
